Video Poker Game Strategy
Video Poker strategies help you to choose the best cards when playing poker, and most importantly, help you to increase your odds of winning. Video Poker is one of the most popular casino games, and understanding the ranking of hands and the basic strategy avoids guessing which cards are best to hold in a given hand. If you are interested in playing video poker online, you can do so at the highly recommended Casino Las Vegas. Big River Omaha Hi Lo Poker
It is important to note that the strategy for video poker is different from the strategy in live poker. The strategies shown are based on mathematical calculations, and it’s very easy to learn each strategy and be able to apply it to your play.
First thing we are going to look at is the ranking of hands.
Royal Flush is the highest ranking hand in video poker (Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 of the same suit).
Straight Flush consists of 5 cards of the same suit in order (i.e. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of spades).
Four of a Kind is 4 cards of the same value and an odd fifth card (i.e. King, King, King, King and 10). Full House contains 3 cards with the same value and 2 cards with the same value, but of another ranking (i.e. 6, 6, 6, 9 and 9). Flush is 5 cards in the same suit, but not in order. Straight is 5 cards in order, but they’re not in the same suit. Three of a Kind is 3 cards with the same value and 2 odd cards (i.e. 3, 3, 3, Queen, 10). An example of Two Pairs is 7, 7, Ace, Ace, King.
One Pair is 2 cards of the same value. The lowest winning pairs in video poker are 10’s in "Tens or Better," Jacks in "Jacks or Better" and "Aces and Faces", and Kings and Aces in "Joker Poker."
The above ranking of hands of course shows in the video poker strategy for “Deuces Wild Video Poker" and "Jacks or Better Video Poker," as the payout is dependant on your final hand, where a Royal Flush has the biggest payout.
